How do I reimburse a large purchase over time?

Whether or not you can be reimbursed in installments depends on how your company has set up your account.


Can I Do This? (For Monthly and Quarterly Stipend Programs ONLY)

If you receive funding in your wallet on a monthly or quarterly basis, you may be eligible to spread the reimbursement of a large purchase over time. When you submit a reimbursement request, the option to use an installment plan will automatically appear if it's available to you.

You’ll be shown a proposed reimbursement schedule and can choose to:

  • Opt into the installment plan, or

  • Be reimbursed up to your current wallet balance instead.

Note: Your reimbursement schedule may be adjusted if you use your funds on other purchases or reimbursements during the installment period.

Important Limitations

  • Installment plans are not available for all wallets or companies.

  • Only users with monthly or quarterly funding are eligible.

  • Annual funding wallets are not eligible, as only purchases made within the current year are reimbursable.

  • If your funds expire at year-end, any remaining installments will be canceled after your December reimbursement (if applicable).



1. Login to your Thrive Account and click the 'Thrive Account' tile.


2. Click on the 'Reimbursements' tab and then on 'Request Reimbursement'.


3. Select the wallet from which you wish to spend funds (if you only have one wallet, please skip this step).

4. Search for your expense in the 'Search Eligible Expenses' bar and the system will show you the category in which it fits under (if eligible). Alternatively, you may browse by category. 


5. Select the category you would like to submit under and select 'Request Reimbursement'.


6. Enter your reimbursement information and select 'Next'.


7. Under "How often do you pay for this purchase?" select "It was a one time purchase" and hit 'Next'.



8. Select "Use automatic reimbursements until the balance is paid off" and select Next.



9. Upload proof of purchase and select Next


10. Select your reimbursement method and select Next. Please note that depending on how your company set up your program, you may not see all of these options. 

11. Confirm the details of your reimbursement and select "Submit Request"



Please note that eligibility for each wallet is determined by your employer and eligible purchases will differ wallet to wallet. Additionally, some programs outline that only current year purchases are eligible for reimbursement.
