Understanding Your COBRA Election and Payment Timelines
You have 60 days from the date your COBRA Continuation Packet is mailed to decide whether you want to elect COBRA coverage. If you choose to enroll, your initial premium payment must be made within 45 days of submitting your election. After that, each monthly premium has a 30‑day grace period.
When Your Coverage Is Reinstated
Your COBRA coverage will be reinstated once:
Your completed Election Form or online enrollment is received, and
Your initial premium payment has been processed.
After these steps are complete, ThrivePass will send your enrollment information to the insurance carriers for the coverages you selected. This update typically takes 7–10 business days from the time your first full payment is received. When reinstated, your coverage will be applied retroactively back to your original termination date, so there is no gap in coverage.
Important Note About Payments
If a partial payment is received, your account will be updated to show the amount paid, but coverage will not be reinstated until the full required premium is paid.
