COBRA continuation coverage offers the same coverage and affords the same rights under the Plan that
are provided to enrolled participants of the Plan. Some coverage is mandated by the state in which the
contract is written rather than by federal COBRA rules.
If elected, health continuation coverage will begin on the day following the applicable benefit
termination date and may continue for up to 18 months. Once your election is complete and your initial
payment received, coverage will be reinstated retroactively to the termination date so your benefits will
not show a lapse in coverage.
Note, COBRA coverage may end earlier in certain circumstances like failure to pay premiums, fraud or
when a Qualified Beneficiary becomes covered under another group health plan, including Medicare.
Returned or declined payments due to insufficient funds do not constitute payment. Failure to make a
complete and timely payment will result in termination of coverage.
